Carrie Bernice O'Malley, 40, of Cedar Park passed into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, October 26, 2012, after a courageous and inspiring battle with cancer.




A rosary service will be held at 9:30 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 3, 2012, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church located at, 10205 N FM 620, Austin, Texas 78726. Following the service, the family will greet friends and family at a reception for a time of fellowship.




Carrie was born on January 3, 1972, in Houston, Texas. She graduated from Navasota High School in 1990, attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, where she earned her Bachelors of Fine Arts degree and then obtained her Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology from Chaminade University in Honolulu, HI. Carrie mentored and inspired many through her career in higher education at St. Mary's University and the University of Texas at Austin. She was a talented artist and her beautiful smile and gracious demeanor were contagious.




She married the love of her life, Mark O'Malley, on March 25, 2006, and they welcomed their son, Declan, on March 19, 2009. Carrie's faith never wavered during her battle with breast cancer and her strength to pursue the most aggressive treatments derived from her husband and son. She will be missed by all who loved her, and by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.




Carrie was preceded in death by her grandparents, Carrie Joswiak Kapchinski, Martin Ed Kapchinski, Loretta Bernice Jones and Louis Martin Jones.




She is the loving wife of husband, Mark and adoring mother of Declan, both of Cedar Park, Texas; beloved daughter of Max and Barbara Kapchinski of Navasota, Texas; cherished sister and sister-in-law of Max and Spring Kapchinski, Jr. of Katy, Texas, Lacey and Tim James of New Braunfels, Texas, Kimberly and Brent Spivey of Dallas, Texas; and caring aunt of Claire, Tripp, Brooke, Noland and Carter.




The family extends their thanks & appreciation to Dr. Beth Hellerstedt of Texas Oncology and her staff for providing the best care possible to Carrie over the past six years.
