Funeral services for Mavis O. (Rhodes) Lueckemeyer, 92, a longtime resident of Somerville, are set for 2 p.m. Sunday, November 11, at Strickland Funeral Home Chapel in Somerville with the Rev. Corby Brizendine officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery in Somerville.




Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday, November 10, with the family present at the funeral home. Mrs. Lueckemeyer died Thursday night at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan.




Mavis as she was known to everyone, was born in Somerville, the daughter of T. J. and Ellen Bain (Goode) Rhodes. She attended school in Somerville and was a hairdresser for 45 years. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, the Marion Mays American Legion Auxiliary, the Somerville Historical Society, and a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Somerville.




She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sisters and brothers, along with numerous nephews.




Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Rita and Jimmy Weber of Cypress, Vickie Thomas of Nixon, Billy Joe Purser of Houston and Thomas Purser of North Carolina; and her sons, Robert Edward and his wife, Doris Kinser of Hockley and James Felix Kinser of Somerville.




Family members have requested that memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Somerville.
