A funeral mass to celebrate the life of Mary Louise (Oviedo) Arias, 75, of Somerville, is set for 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 12, 2012 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Somerville with Fr. Nock Russell as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery in Somerville. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Sunday at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Somerville. Mrs. Arias died in Florissant, Colorado on Tuesday, November 6, 2012.
Mary was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the daughter of Ventura Oviedo and Nestora (Ortiz) Oviedo Lopez. She was baptized November 21, 1937 in Albuquerque, New Mexico at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. She was married to the love of her life, Raymond Arias on May 28, 1954 and their union produced 4 sons and 3 daughters. Mary was a member of St. Ann's Altar Society & Quilting Club and a member of The American Legion Auxillary, but somehow she found the time to go back to school to become a Licensed Vocation Nurse and worked for 15 years taking care of others. Mary is preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Guadalupe Lopez; her grandson, Michael Joseph Arias; and her mother-in-law, Matilde Archuleta Marquez.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Raymond Arias of Somerville; her sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond Arias of San Antonio, Joseph and Carla Arias of Chandler, Ariz., Leonard and Sherry Arias of Florissant, Colo. and Wil Arias of Houston; her daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn and John Rosas of Bryan, Joan and Alex Torres of Bryan and Ellen Rodriguez of Kingwood; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Gabriel and Anna Lopez of Los Lunas, N.M., Abran and Jennie Lopez of Albuquerque, N.M., and Jesse Lopez of Albuquerque, N.M., Raymond Oviedo of Casa Grande, Ariz., Richard Oviedo of Henderson, Colo., David Oviedo of Phoenix, Ariz., Bennie Oviedo of Kansas City, Mo., and Frank and Jane Oviedo of Norfolk, Neb.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Frances and Bill Griego, Maria Sanchez and Roberto Soliz, Lupita and Joe Aranda, Aggie Schaefer, Marie and John Fasano, all of Albuquerque, NM, Helen Lujan of Seminole, Joann and Al Pena of Amarillo, Jane and Phillip Sanchez of Alliance, NE and Mary Guzman of Seminole; grandchildren, Thomas Sanchez, Stephanie Sanchez, Melonica Arias, Frances Arias, Fredrick Arias, Charley Torres, Christopher Torres, Stephen Arias, Gabrielle Arias, Caroline Arias, Brandon Arias, Treavor Arias, Cameron Arias, Garrick Arias, Eric Michael Rodriguez, and Elise Rodriguez; great-grandchildren, Kali Arias, Sebastian Thompson, Julian Thompson, Kyleigh Garcia, Gavyn Arias, Aubrey Arias, and Aaron Arias; brother-in-law, Robert Arias and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
