Edward Earl McCartney, 63, of Yellville, AR, was born on November 26, 1948 in Delhi, LA, and passed away on November 9, 2012. He was the son of Earl and Peggy McCartney.
Eddie graduated from Northshore High School in Northshore, TX. He joined the Air Force and trained as an aircraft mechanic. His tours included United States bases, Vietnam, and Bitburg AB, Germany. He was a devoted father, dedicated soldier, Dallas Cowboy fan and a friend to many. He was very involved in his sons' sports activities, which included coaching Little League and Boy Scouts and was an umpire for many years in baseball. He worked for Agency Records Control and later City of Bryan. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and served as Eucharistic Minister until he moved to Austin. He was a member of the American Legion. He worked as an adjuster for FEMA. Eddie retired in Yellville, Arkansas where he built his home which he affectionately called Rooster Ridge. His dogs, Paxton and Hannah Belle were his constant companions.
He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents, William and Nonie McCartney and Henry and Ina Walker.
Eddie is survived by sons, Chad McCartney and wife, Crystal, of Cypress, Brandon McCartney and wife, Amanda, of Bryan, and Dusty McCartney and wife, Amanda, of Houston; sisters, Glynda Oliver and husband, Jim, of LaPorte, Gayle Hoevelman and husband, Robin, and Pam Mason and husband, Carlon, all of Deer Park; brothers, Michael McCartney of Baytown and Ronnie Garrett and wife, Sissie; stepmother, Joyce Henderson, of Baytown, and mother of his children, Lydia Luza Mousner of College Station; grandchildren, Andrew McCartney, Tyler McCartney, Ashlyn McCartney, Katie McCartney, Tanner McCartney, and Easton McCartney; numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
A memorial service is planned for a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Disabled American Veterans Organization or St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
