Fred L. Rennels Jr., 94, of Bryan, passed away Sunday, November 18, 2012. A small private service was held for immediate family.




Fred was born on August 29, 1918 in Thalia to Fred and Ethel (Abston) Rennels. He graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor's in Agriculture Education in 1941. Fred joined the Army Air Corps as a flying cadet in 1941 and served as a pilot in WWII. He made the U.S. Air Force his career for 27 years. Fred married Jo Anne McCullough on September 28, 1943 in Bryan and they traveled the world with the Air Force. In 1968 Fred retired as a Colonel and made Bryan his permanent home, joining his father in the real estate business. He operated Fred Rennels Real Estate for over 30 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Bryan, the Lions Club and the Military Officers Association.




He is preceded in death by his wife, Jo Anne Rennels and his brother, John 'Clark' Rennels of Rockport.




Fred is survived by his son, Logan and wife, Landa Rennels of Bryan; daughter, Kay and husband, Steven Jongsma, of Laguna Niguel, California; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.




Memorials may be made in Fred's honor to Hospice Brazos Valley or the charity of your choice .
