Marcella R. Goen passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2012 in Bryan, Texas. A time of visitation will be Tuesday, November 20, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Hillier Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 21, at 2:00 p.m. at Bright Light Free Will Baptist Church, 11200 State Hwy. 30, College Station, Texas, with Rev. Danny Davis and Rev. M. Grady Calhoun officiating. Interment will follow at College Station City Cemetery.




Marcella was born in Brenham, Texas, the daughter of Morris and Alice Ruetz. She married Oliver F. Goen of Bryan on September 24, 1944. During her life, she traveled extensively in the United States and Europe as the wife of a career military officer. As a homemaker and mother, she raised three children. Marcella and Oliver retired to Brazos County in 1975, where she was active in her church, family and social activities.




Marcella is survived by her husband of 68 years, Oliver Goen; two sons and daughters-in-law, Clyde and Genia Goen and Tom and Cathy Goen, all of College Station; seven grandchildren; Laura and Jim Wilson of Round Mountain, Mary and Stephen Mobley of Manor, Kristy and Andrew Humphreys of Bryan, Diane and Joe Alvarado, David and Stephanie Goen, and John Goen, all of College Station, and Erin and Alex Price of Austin; seven great grandchildren; two nephews, James Dinkins of Crystal Beach and David Dinkins of San Antonio, and her sister, Annie Belle Dinkins of Conroe.




She was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Goen.




In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bright Light Free Will Baptist Church, 11200 State Hwy. 30, College Station, Texas, 77845.




Pallbearers will be Clyde Goen, Tom Goen, David Goen, John Goen, Jim Wilson, Stephen Mobley, Andrew Humphreys, Joe Alvarado and Alex Price.
