Lewis Odell Tharp, 91, of Caldwell passed away Friday, November 30, 2012 at Burleson St. Joseph Manor in Caldwell. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, December 3 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell with Rev. Steve Johnson officiating.




Masonic graveside rites will be conducted at Caldwell Masonic Cemetery under the auspices of Warren Lodge No. 56 A.F. & A.M. of Caldwell.




Odell was born March 1, 1921 in Rockdale to L. O. and Bessie Mae (Storm) Tharp. He was a retired pot line supervisor for Alcoa Aluminum in Rockdale. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church and the J. D. Watson Sunday School Class and had served on many committees over the years. For many years he served on the board of directors of Caldwell Masonic Cemetery. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, hunting and traveling.




He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Juanita (Broaddus) Tharp; his second wife, Gladys (Poole) Tharp; and a brother, William Kenneth "Billy" Tharp.




Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Windelyn Tharp of Caldwell; a stepson, Al Addison and wife, Jai Leigh of Austin; a sister-in-law, Laverne Tharp of Bastrop; three grandchildren and their spouses, Karen and Kelly Matejka of Burleson, Kenneth, Jr. and Melissa Tharp of Somerville and Joy and Frank Monroe of Caldwell; six great grandchildren, Kelsey Matejka, Kasey Barber and husband, Nathan, Taylor Tharp, Layne Tharp, Tyler Monroe and Levi Monroe.




Pallbearers will be members of Warren Lodge No. 56. Honorary pallbearers will be members of J. D. Watson Sunday School
Class.




In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Caldwell.




Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home of Caldwell is in charge of arrangements.
