Ronald Anthony Canatella, 42, of Millican, died Saturday evening, December 2, 2012, in Southern Brazos County from injuries he received when his truck struck a cow.




A gathering of family and friends will take place from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at Christ Our Light Catholic Church (christourlight.org), 9677 Hwy 6 in Navasota. A vigil service and parish rosary will follow at 7:00 pm.




A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 am Thursday, December 6, 2012, at Christ Our Light Catholic Church with Rev. Rodolfo "JoJo" Cal-Ortiz as the celebrant. The rite of committal will follow in the Wheat Cemetery in Millican.




Serving as pallbearers will be Tim Szymczak, Clifford Szymczak, Frank Szymczak, Patrick Szymczak, Billy Chenault, Don "Bubba" Worbington, Ronnie Podraza and Brian Reagan. Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Canatella, Thomas Diehl and Douglas Day.




Ronald was born September 1, 1970 in Navasota and has lived in Navasota and Millican all his life. He graduated from Navasota High School in 1988 and attended Blinn Jr. College. Ronald was a successful business owner of Canatella Plumbing in Navasota. He enjoyed playing soft ball, water skiing and attended numerous runnings of the Indy 500 race. In his spare time, you could find him enjoying the company of many friends at The Western Club in Navasota. He was a lifelong member of Christ Our Light Catholic Church.




Survivors include his daughter, Cassidy Marie Canatella of Anderson; his mother and step father, Minnie and Frank Crouch of Navasota; aunts and uncles, Mary Jo and James Kennedy of Anderson and Charlie and Lou Ann Canatella of Houston; special friends, Douglas Day, Ronnie Podraza, both of Millican and Thomas Diehl of Plantersville.




In lieu of usual remembrances, the family has requested memorials in Ronald's name to a favorite charity .
