Ruth Evelyn (Hyvl) Paul, 85, of Caldwell passed away Saturday, December 8, 2012 in Bryan. Services will be held Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the New Tabor Brethren Church with Pastor David Johnson officiating and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The visitation will be Tuesday evening at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.




Ruth was born February 19, 1927 in Burleson County to parents Vaclav Hyvl and Antonia (Baly') Hyvl. She grew up and lived in the Volney community in Burleson County. She attended school at Loan Oak and Volney Schools and Snook High School. She worked on the family farm planting, plowing and picking cotton on 300 acres.
She married Alvin Paul on December 31, 1945. After the war they moved to Houston in 1946, where she worked cleaning houses. They moved back to the farm in the Providence area in 1950 and then to new Tabor area in 1951.While working on the farm she also worked at Moore's Dry Goods in Caldwell for 16 years.




She was very active in church serving on many committees and holding many offices; the Local Christian Sisters, taught Sunday school, was a board member of Christian Sisters Union for 10 years and held numerous offices. She worked Vacation Bible Schools; she created flower arrangements for the church out of her garden. When she wasn't working she enjoyed gardening, quilting, listening to music, dancing or humming. She loved to laugh and had a wonderful sense of humor.




Preceding Mrs. Paul were her parents, her Husband, a son, Glen Paul, five brothers, Vince, Bill, Johnny, Emil, and Bohus Hyvl, and two sisters Millie Pagel and Ella Marek, and a granddaughter Jennifer Paul.




She is survived by three sons, Kenneth Paul, Alvin F. Paul and wife Helen, and Donald Paul all of Caldwell, a daughter Tami Laza and husband Kent of College Station, six grandchildren, Monica Paul of Dallas, David Paul of Caldwell, Kevin Paul of Caldwell, Jeffrey Paul of Snook, Austin Paul and his wife Jessica of Snook, and Kathryn Laza of Dallas, a by a sister, Toni Schultz and husband of Pensacola, FL, and two sisters-in-law, Henrietta Hyvl, and Lillie Mae Hyvl both of Caldwell. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and a host of friends.




Serving as pallbearers are her grandsons, David Paul, Kevin Paul, Jeff Paul, Austin Paul, Delbert Hyvl, and Matthew Hyvl and honorary pallbearers will be, Monica Paul and Kathryn Laza.




Memorials may be made to the New Tabor Brethren Church Building Fund.




Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home, Caldwell.
