Funeral Home: Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home
September 18, 1928 - December 18, 2012
Calvin Louis Cobb, 84, of Bryan, formerly of Cameron, passed away Tuesday morning, December 18, 2012. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Sunday, December 23, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Calvin was born September 18, 1928 in Rogers, Texas to Jesse and Alma Cobb. He was a longtime farmer and rancher in and around Milam County. He met the love of his life, Bonnie Keele, on a blind date five years before they were married on December 12, 1953.
He raised four boys who all became Christians and brought him his very much loved grandchildren, ten in all. Dad brought a smile to all with his expressions and quick wit. Even in his last days he tried to give life to the occasion. He enjoyed life and knew God.
Dad was a servant in his community where he served on the Cameron School Board for 17 years, as a director for Belfalls Electrical Coop for many years, and was a Rotarian. He was most of all a follower of Jesus and was a member of the Cameron Church of Christ, where he had served as an elder and deacon. He actively supported many orphanage organizations and communicated for years with students of World Bible School.
He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter-in-law, Sarah Anne.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Bonnie; three brothers and a sister, Darrel, Derwood, Leonard and Geneva Harding; four sons, Brian, Ronald and wife Debbie, Gerald and wife Judy, and David and Carenda; ten grandchildren, Stephanie Langwell and husband Matt, Elizabeth, Alex, Haley, Kimberly, Makensie, Hannah, Bethany, Nathan, and John.
Memorials may be made to the Christian Works for Children or Christian Services of the Southwest organizations.
