Milton Sherwood "Pete" Allen, age 90, of Anderson, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, December 19, 2012. A time for the family to receive friends will be Friday, December 21, 2012 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Hillier Funeral Home, 2301 E. 29th St. in Bryan. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 10:00 am, also at Hillier Funeral Home, with Brother Larry Andrews, officiating. Interment will follow at Bryan City Cemetery.




Pete was born to Leonard and Nina (Barker) Allen on December 18, 1922 in Anderson. He graduated from A&M Consolidated High School and also From Texas A&M University. He worked his entire career for the same company before retiring from Verizon in 1979. He married the love of his life, Florence, September 2, 1950. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during WWII as a B29 Bomber Flight Crew member. He was an active member of Carlos Missionary Baptist Church for 34 years.




Left behind from his passing is his wife of 62 years, Florence Lehde of Anderson; a daughter, Sharon and Jeff Blaugrund of College Station; and three grandsons, Brian and Kevin Blaugrund, and Matthew Allen. Preceding Pete in death was his son, Ronnie Allen and his grandson, Marcus Allen, both in 2008.




In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made to the Carlos Missionary Baptist Church, 7067 SH 30, Carlos, TX 77830.
