Onella J. Mooring, 89, of Bryan passed away Friday, December 21, 2012 at Sherwood Health Care, Inc. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Jones-Washington Mortuary. Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Thursday, December 27, 2012 at New Jerusalem Baptist Church with Pastor Kelon Dalton, officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.




Onella Josephine Davenport-Mooring was born on September 5, 1923 in Brazos County to, Anna Wyatt and Joe Davenport. She graduated from E.A. Kemp High School. She retired from Bryan ISD after eighteen years of service. She was a member of Castle Heights Missionry Baptist Church.




Onella was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Hill Mooring; her parents, Anna and Joe Davenport.




Survivors included five sons and daughters-in-law: Bobby James and Patricia Mooring, Milton Earl and Mary Ann Mooring of Bryan; Arthur Lee and Elnora Mooring of San Antonio, Texas; Cecil Wayne Mooring of Bryan; and Joseph Keith Mooring of Bryan; brother, Oscar L. Davenport; sister, Joe Eddie Bass; sisters-in-law: Armatha Ross, Vernell and Dean Davenport, Cora Lee Davenport; Claudie Fay Mooring, Annie Mooring; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and a host of niece and nephews and friends.
