October 22, 1920 – January 5, 2013

On January 5, 2013 the Lord welcomed another Angel in Heaven, Odessa Hilton Moore, lovingly known as Sharon to family and friends. She was born October 22, 1920 in Bryan, Texas to William Sharron and Weltha Odessa (Smith) Hilton. She graduated from Bryan High School and the MacKenzie Baldwin Business College. On August 31, 1943 she wed Thomas Logan Moore who preceded her in death after 55 years of marriage. Their loving union produced eleven children, three preceding her in death; Mark, Kevin, and David.

Her children remember a mother who always had time for them, exhibited abundant patience and left a legacy of love for family and service to others. She was a member of the Alter Society and a beloved CYO sponsor and leader. She supported her children's activities in school, sports, scouting and church. Sharon, known for near perfect typing and rapid-fire shorthand, worked for the Pentagon during World War II years, where she typed secret documents. As her family grew, she dedicated her time to raising her children, still making time to serve as Business Manager of Tom Moore Electric Co.

Sharon was a well-known genealogist and unselfishly shared her research with others, opening the doors to their past. She loved to play scrabble, draw house plans, and sewed clothes and countless costumes for her childrens various activities. There literally was nothing she couldn't do if necessary, even fighting off bullies for her brother in grammar school! In short, she was an amazing pioneering woman who gave every ounce of herself to those she loved.

Sharon died peacefully at home where she had been lovingly cared for by her sons, James and Robert. Their dedication to her and the family is a living example of everything she stood for. Her spirit lives on!

In addition to her parents, husband, and children, Sharon was preceded in death by her brother, Lynn Hilton, sisters Amber Speer and True Reese, granddaughter Amy Christine Moore, nephews Mack Daniel Hilton, and Clyde Allen Reese, and niece Sally Reese.

Survivors include her brother, Henry "Hank" Hilton and wife Lydia of College Station, Texas; cousin, Guy R. Papelis of St. Francisville, La.; children, Sharon Lynn Spencer and husband Ken of Fort Worth, Texas; Robert E. Moore of Bryan, Texas; Pat McCauley and husband Jesse, of Somerville, Texas; Thomas L. Moore and wife, Susan of Plano, Texas: Michael P. Moore and wife Julie, of Pinehurst, Texas; Peggy Miller of Austin, Texas; Greg Moore and wife Ann of San Antonio, Texas; and James R. Moore of Bryan, Texas. Survivors also include 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Fifty plus years ago Sharon established annual family reunions. Her legacy continues today. A private memorial and Celebration of Life will be held this summer during our annual Smith-Hilton family reunion.
