December 22, 1930 - January 6, 2013

A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, January 12, at the Brazos Valley Unitarian Universalist Church, 305 Wellborn Road in College Station.

Doug was born and raised in California. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and later attended Stanford University where he graduated in 1969. He worked for TWA as an airplane mechanic and engine inspector for thirty-five years, as an airplane mechanic for the State of New Mexico for five years and then as a teaching assistant and substitute teacher.

Doug was a strong supporter of progressive causes throughout his life and a member of the International Association of Machinists for more than forty-five years. He was a great teller of stories and a great listener.

He was interested in everybody he talked with and he especially liked to talk to young people about their dreams and aspirations.

His wife, Marianne; his children, Mignon Demma, George Stocks and Marguerite Cague; grandson, Justin Demma; half-brother, Larry Stocks; and everybody whose lives he touched all miss him sorely.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the
Bryan Animal Center
P.O. Box 1000, Bryan TX 77805.
