Lupe Rueda, 88, of Bryan, passed away on Monday, January 7, 2013 with her family by her side. A time for the family to receive friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 11, 2013 with a rosary recited at 6:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 600 E. 26th Street, Bryan with Msgr. John McCaffrey officiating. Interment will follow Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Lupe was born on April 18, 1924 to Benito and Josephine (Surita) Narro in Lexington. She married Gonzalo Rueda in December of 1943 and together they raised seven children. Lupe retired from Texas A&M University in 1989 after working there for 20 years. She loved gardening and taking care of her yard and spending time with her family.
She leaves behind her daughters, Ortencia Duron, Susie and Jessie Hernandez, Annie and Pete Garcia and Mary Marquez; sons, Rudy and Alice Rueda, Joe and Lori Rueda and Jesse Rueda; grandchildren, Larry, Connie, Ray, Laura, Robert, Kevin, Richard, Jennifer, Nick, Juan III, Christopher, David, Rudy II, Emiel, Ashley, Denise and Loretta; and 38 great-grandchildren. Also surviving Lupe is her sister-in-law, Pola Narro; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gonzalo Rueda; her parents; her brothers and sister.
