Funeral Home: Memorial Funeral Chapel
January 19, 1916 – January 9, 2013
Anne Salvaggio, our beloved mother, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday January 9, 2013 only 10 days before her 97th birthday. Anne was born to Joe and Mary (Scarcella) Cortaise in Temple, Texas January 19, 1916. She met Sam Salvaggio at a St Joseph altar in Bryan where they later married at St Anthony's Catholic Church in September 1933.
Anne devoted her life to raising her children and grandchildren close to God and each other. She believed in the power of prayer and raised her family in St Anthony's Catholic Church with the firm belief in God and under the motto "the family that prays together stays together". She was the most caring, giving "God filled" person I have ever had the privilege of knowing. She loved completely and whole heartedly praying for those in need and thanking God for all she had.
Anne was a source of Christian strength, hope and light for her family. God rewarded her unwaivering faith, love and devotion with 5 children, 9 grandchildren, 17 great -grandchildren, and 20 great - great - grandchildren. She loved each and every one of these children – they are her legacy.
We will say farewell to our mother, grandmother, advisor and friend by celebrating her life and consoling each other for our loss. She lives on in our hearts, our deeds and actions.
Saturday, January 12, 2013 St Anthony's Altar Society will honor her with a rosary at 4:00 p.m. and Monsignor John Malinowski will preside over the family rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Chapel located at 1515 South College Avenue Bryan, TX 77801.
Sunday, January 13, 2013 St. Anthony's Catholic Church will hold a mass of Christian burial at 2:00 pm with Father Patrick Ebner. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Anne is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Sam Salvaggio, daughter, Theresa Salvaggio, brother, Sam Cortasie, sisters, Rose Cortasie Flores and Johanna Cortasie Salvaggio, great - grandsons, Lucas Bryand and Dawson Bryand, and her daughter-in-law, Joanna Salvaggio.
