Zola Kathryn (Kay) Sherb Seibel, 89, passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2013. Kay was born to Daniel LeRoy Botheras and Carrie Luella Stone Botheras in Maxwell, Iowa on August 15, 1923, the eldest of three children. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 21 at Waldenbrooke Estates in Bryan. A private burial at sea has been scheduled at a future date.




Kay grew up in Melbourne, Iowa where she enjoyed and excelled at playing basketball in High School. After graduation Kay followed her brothers, Jack and Bob Botheras, to San Francisco, California where they were stationed in the Navy. There she met Naval Officer, First Lieutenant Kenneth W. Sherb and on May 1, 1946 they were married. Ken and Kay moved to New York where Kay modeled for Barbizon and began raising her four children. After Ken’s death in 1965, she returned to Southern California where she began a career in human resources and accounting. In 1976 she married Arthur C. Seibel. In recent years, she moved to Bryan, Texas where her two daughters reside.




Kay was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who touched many lives with her kindness. She will be deeply missed by family and friends.




Kay was preceded in death by husbands, Kenneth W. Sherb and Arthur C. Seibel; her parents Daniel and Carrie Botheras; brothers Jack and Bob Botheras.




Kay is survived by children, Lindy (Sherb) Rodgers and husband Tom of College Station, Texas, Kevin Sherb and wife Marisa of Fullerton, California, Peter Sherb of Brea, California, Missy (Sherb) Lund and husband John of College Station, Texas; grandchildren, Thomas Rodgers and wife Kaitlyn of College Station, Texas, Chris Rodgers and wife Kim of Aurora, Colorado, John Rodgers and wife Amy of Dallas, Texas, Marissa Kay Sherb and Kenneth Warner Sherb of Fullerton, California, Ricky Sherb and Karin Sherb of Brea, California, Alyssa Amos of College Station, Texas; great grandchildren, Hailey Rodgers, Noah Rodgers, Teagan Rodgers and Sam Rodgers of Aurora, Colorado and Eli and Ezra Rodgers of College Station, Texas.




The Family wishes to thank the members of the staff at Waldenbrooke Estates, where she lived in recent years, for their attentiveness and kindness and the Isle at Watercrest for the excellent and loving care in recent weeks.
