VernaFay Fern DeWitt, 91, lifelong resident of Kingfisher, Okla., passed away Monday, January 14, 2013, in Kingfisher. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 18, at First Christian Church in Kingfisher. The Rev. Marilyn Merle will officiate.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, January 17, at Sanders Funeral Home. Arrangements are under direction of Sanders Funeral Services.

VernaFay was born July 2, 1921, in Howard, North Dakota, to Albert and Ella "Kline" Hauser. She graduated from Loyal High School in 1938. She married Ralph S. DeWitt on Jan. 13, 1941, in Kingfisher. VernaFay is a member of the First Christian Church. She worked as a waitress, homemaker and mother.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; daughter, Donetta McWilliams; and a brother, Raymond K. Hauser.

Survivors include one granddaughter, Erin Chastain-Harris and husband Chris of College Station; and a sister, LaDonna Kochenower of Kingfisher.

In lieu of flowers contributions are welcome for the DeWitt Scholarship Fund at Edward Jones Investment Co., 105 N. Main St., Suite A, Kingfisher, OK 73750.
