After a year long battle with Leukemia, our mother Kay Rice passed away to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at her home in Bedias, Texas. Kay was born December 11, 1955 in Bryan, Texas, to Donald and Ruby Rice.
Kay was a devoted wife and loving mother. Family and friends were her passion, often giving whatever she had to help someone else. Throughout her life Kay embarked on many adventures living in places such as Florida, California, Arkansas, and Nevada. Her heart however was always true to Texas, living the majority of her life in Bryan and Bedias. Kay enjoyed cooking, gardening, her dogs, and her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her passion and love for her family.
Kay is preceded in death by her mother, Ruby Rice.
Survived by her husband, Robert Wells of Bedias; son, Heath Pipes, wife Suzanne, and three granddaughters Avery, Alyssa, and Ashley of Midland, Texas; son, Donny Pipes, wife Stacey, and two grandchildren Kinzi and Tate of Houston, Texas; father, Donald Rice of Bryan; sister, Darlene Hodges, husband Greg of Normangee, Texas; uncle, Larry Young , wife Charlene of Kurten, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at the Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville, Texas, at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2013. There will be a visitation the same day beginning at 10 a.m. Kay will be laid to rest at the Independence Cemetery in Bedias.
The family wishes to thank all the doctors and nurses at MD Anderson of Houston and St. Joseph Hospital of Bryan, for all their efforts during this past year.
