Cheryl Jeannine Bashaw, 59, softly went into the arms of her Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, January 13, 2013. Her warm, friendly presence will be deeply missed by her family and those who knew her well. Despite a long and courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis, Cheryl had a positive attitude and happy zeal for life. Her reward in heaven will be great.




Cheryl was born August 3, 1953 in Bryan, Texas to Dr. E.C. and Bettye Bashaw. She was a 1972 graduate of Bryan High School, attended Blinn Jr. College in Brenham, Texas, and earned a degree in Floriculture from Texas State Technical College in Waco, Texas.




Cheryl worked for many years at Geranium Junction floral shop in Bryan, Texas and had a passion for flowers. She was a member of the La Villita Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Red Hat Society. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of College Station.




Cheryl also had a love for dogs and making dollhouses. She was a devoted Texas Aggie and Dallas Cowboys fan, and was thrilled that the Aggies won the Cotton Bowl. Cheryl was very active at Fortress Health and Rehab and enjoyed playing bingo and working on crafts. Her cheery spirit was often an uplifting and positive presence for her friends and staff at Fortress.




Cheryl is preceded in death by her mother, Bettye Bashaw.




Cheryl is survived by her father, E.C. Bashaw of College Station; her sister, Jane Bashaw Kazleman of Jacksonville, N.C.; nieces, Cristina Reintjes and husband Chris, and their two sons, David and Henry, all of Jacksonville, Fla., Courtney Spencer and husband Aaron of Sneads Ferry, N.C., and Elizabeth Wooten and husband Jacob of College Station, Texas; and her nephew, Thomas Kazleman and his daughter, MacKenzie of Jacksonville, N.C.




Visitation will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 18, at First Baptist Church in College Station, with funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at College Station Cemetery.
