Gladys F. Merchant, 87, passed away on Thursday January 17, 2013 at Hudson Creek Alzheimer Care Center. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday January 24 at Parkway Baptist Church, 1501 Southwest Parkway, College Station, Texas with Reverend Chris Snidow officiating. Interment will follow at Franklin Cemetery in Franklin.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station.
Gladys was born March 8, 1925 in Eagle Lake the daughter of Alfred Miles and Mary Ann Elizabeth (Marshall) Towns. She was a charter member of Parkway Baptist Church teaching Sunday School and was involved in most functions at church. She retired from AT&T after 27 years of service in various cities.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, John Henry Merchant; her parents, and two brothers.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Sue Smith of College Station; six nephews, three nieces, six great-nieces, four great-great-nephews and one great-great-niece.
The family would like to thank all of the nursing staff at Hudson Creek Alzheimer Care Center for the love and care they gave to Gladys.
Memorial donations may be made to the Parkway Baptist Church Building fund or any other needs of the church.
