Robert Atkins Burke III, 54, of Iola passed away Sunday, January 20, 2013 at his residence. Funeral services are set for 3 p.m. Thursday, January 24, in the Chapel of Trevino-Smith Funeral Home with Pastor Ernest Upchurch officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Thursday in the Funeral Home Chapel.




Robert was born August 25, 1958 in Portsmouth, Virginia to Robert Sr. and Evelyn (Davies) Burke. He was a licensed minister and led the praise and worship services in his church for over 11 years. He deeply loved his family and will be missed by all who knew him.




He is preceded in death by his father and a brother.




Robert leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Evelyn Burke; loving wife of 10 years, Renee Burke; a son at home, Dalton Wayne Burke; two step sons, Bradley and Justin Harris; seven older children; a brother, David Burke; three sisters, Joy Hooper, Lori Jernigan, and Robin Higgins; and 11 grandchildren.




The family would like to extend special thanks to the nurses of Hospice Brazos Valley, Kristen, and Casey; and to Dr. Erin Fleener for their excellent care.




In lieu of flowers please make monetary contributions to the Bob Burke benefit account at First Victoria Bank or to Hospice Brazos Valley in his name.
