George Washington Robinson Jr., 90, went to Heaven to join his wife, Martha on December 24, 2012. A celebration of his life will take place on Sunday, February 3, at 4 p.m. in the All Faiths Chapel on the Texas A&M University Campus.




Born In McCaysville, Georgia on September 7, 1922, he was the son of George and Hattie (Payne) Robinson. He served our country in the United States Navy during WWII. He graduated from Tennessee Wesleyan College and went to work for Union Carbide Nuclear Division in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. He was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church in Oak Ridge. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, dancing, singing, and cheering on his grandsons at sporting events. George also enjoyed volunteering at Rock Prairie Elementary School to read to the kindergarten class. He found great joy in life, always smiling and joking with those around him.




Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Martha Josephine (Solomon) Robinson.




Mr. Robinson is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Dr David and Sharon Russell of Bryan Texas, and Jeff and Emily Roberts of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; five grandsons, Aaron and Roxanna Russell, Jeremy Russell, Jordan Russell, Justin Roberts, and Joseph Roberts; and his two great grandchildren, Seth Russell, and Sutton Russell. He is also survived by his adoptive daughters, Ina Sweat, and Kendra Sweat of Bryan. George is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Hugo and Patricia Hughes of Clinton Tennessee.




George's favorite charity was St Jude Children's Hospital.
