Remedios Garcia, 71, of Bryan, passed away at her home on Tuesday, January 29. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 6pm Friday, February 1 at the funeral home. She requested her body be given to TAMU for medical research. Her arrangements are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home and Crematory. Reverend Patrick Ebner will officiate.
Remedios was born to Feliciano and Refugia Mendez in Lockhart, Texas. She moved to Bryan early in life and complete school. She raised her children and taught them the importance to family. She will be greatly missed by her children and grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are her parents; two sons Tommy Salazar and David Gonzales; two brothers, Lorenzo Mendez and David Mendez; her sister Mary Ramirez and sister-in-law Nicolasa Mendez.
Survivors include her husband, Genaro Garcia; her sons Miguel Gaitan, Rafael Gaitan, and Joe Angel Garcia; her daughter Crystal Gonzales; her brothers Bisente Mendez and wife Lupe, Raymond Mendez and wife Simona, Benito Mendez and wife Connie, Lupe Mendez and wife Rachael, Alvaro Mendez and wife Anna; her sisters Angelita Sarate, Gloria Lopez and husband Fidencio; her sister-in-law Alice Mendez; her thirteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted at Prosperity Bank in honor of Remedios Mendez Garcia.
