Funeral Home: Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home
Feb. 27, 1925 - Feb. 7, 2013

Rose Loria Mauro was called home by her Lord on Feb. 7, 2013 at the age of 87. Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. and Rosary at 2 p.m. at Forest Park Funeral Home at 12800 Westheimer in Houston Sunday, February 10, 2013. Burial will follow at 3 p.m.

Rose was born on Feb. 27, 1925 in Highbank, Texas to Frank and Catherine Loria. She grew up in a very traditional and proud Italian family with 5 brothers and 4 sisters. At an Italian wedding in 1944, Rose met Louis Mauro and they were married 3 months later. Rose, a woman of grace and poise, lived a life which exemplified the values held so strongly by her Italian Catholic heritage….devotion to her faith and unconditional love of her family. She enjoyed spending time in the kitchen cooking her famous homemade pasta di suga and meatballs, real Italian pizza, and veal cutlets; socializing with friends at weekly card games; and attending family outings and events.

Rose was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, her parents and seven brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her son, Frank Mauro and wife, Lana; grandson, Lucas Mauro and wife, Jessica; and twin grandchildren, Leighton and Lauren Mauro. Also surviving is her sister and best friend, Lena LaBarbera; her brother, Sam Loria and wife, Mary; special niece, Callie Mauk, and husband, Bob; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Words cannot express the love and gratitude to Rose's longstanding caregivers, Linda Atkins, Carmen Dives and Rosie Flores, who loved and cared for Rose more than 8 years, and will always be a part of the Mauro extended family.

Donations in Rose's memory should be made to Strake Jesuit Memorial Fund, 8900 Bellaire Blvd., Houston, TX 77036.
