Shelby Lee Goodman, Sr., 70, of Logansport, Louisiana, passed away at his home on February 14, 2013.




A graveside service will be held at Smetana Cemetery at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 22nd. Services are entrusted to Hillier Funeral Home.




Shelby was born in Orange, Texas, on November 28, 1942, to parents Shelby Banks Goodman and Mary Alice Strother Goodman. He grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana, moving back to Texas in 1969.




While living in Bryan, Shelby was active with coaching youth bowling and flag football. He was often spotted at Little League baseball and soccer games as well. A retired long-haul truck driver, Shelby returned to Louisiana, living on the Sabine River in Logansport and doing what he loved, fishing. Shelby never met a stranger and was always quick to help others. His family came first and he was a doting father and Paw-Paw. Shelby was one of a kind and he will be greatly missed by those who knew him.




Shelby was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Virgil Goodman. He is survived by son, Shelby Goodman, Jr. of College Station; daughters, Rhonda Mahle and husband, Terry, of Portland and Shelly Lundberg and husband, Jarrod, of Spring; granddaughters, Lauren Mahle of Bryan, Morgan Mahle of Bryan and Peyton Lundberg of Spring; grandsons, Brawley Goodman of Bryan, Steven Mahle and wife Brittany Mahle and Jordan Mahle all of Portland; great-granddaughter, Maddie Trejo of Bryan and great-grandson, Jackson Mahle of Portland; sisters, Virginia Howell and husband, Derwin, of Sapulpa, Oklahoma and Mary Jones and husband, Mark, of Maricopa, Arizona; brother, Randy Goodman of Shreveport, Louisiana; and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his former wife and forever friend, Norma Goodman of Bryan.




In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his memory to Ronald McDonald House Charities or any charity of your choice .
