Charles Wayne, Burnett, 76, passed away peacefully Sunday February 24 at his home in Bryan with his family by his side.



Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday February 27 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Interment will follow at Little River Cemetery in the Jones Prairie Community in Milam County. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.



Charles was born March 22, 1936 in Cameron, Texas the son of Willie Bradley and Audrey Magdalene Burnett. He served in the Army National Guard and later, the Texas National Guard as a tank commander. Charles worked for GTE, retiring after 32 years of service. He came out of retirement and began working for Texas A&M University Agricultural Extension Services, he retired from there after 13 years of service. Charles loved hunting, fishing, and was known for his rope tricks and telling jokes.



Charles is preceded in death by his parents; son, Wayne Burnett; and his brothers, Willy Bradley Burnett, Giles Burnett and Jack Burnett.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Wanda Burnett; daughters, Alicia Button and Linda Burnett; brothers and sisters-in-law, Carlton Burnett, Leland and Lane Burnett, Moye and Donna Burnett; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Florine Hallmark, JoAnn and Johnny Beauchamp; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Shirley Harrison, Billy and Sue Harrison; grandchildren, Kelcie Button, Vincent Button, Danielle Button, Haley Fry, Cody Burnett, Cory Konderla and Ashley Konderla; and numerous nieces and nephews.



Our family would like to express a special thank you to, Dr. Ramon Rodriquez, the staff of Scott & White Clinic and Compassionate Care Hospice for all their help, love and support to our family and Charles.
