Manuel Lopez Latterman, 88, of Bryan, passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2013. A time for family to receive friends will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Hillier Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 also at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Bryan City Cemetery. Hillier Funeral Home is entrusted to his care.
Manuel was born on December 25, 1924 in Bryan to Julius and Mary (Lopez) Latterman. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1943 until 1946 during World War II. He received an American Theater Campaign Medal with 1 Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Ribbon and 2 Overseas Service Bars. After Manuel finished his military career, he studied bookkeeping at Allen Academy. Manuel was a lifetime Bryan resident and member of La Primera Iglesia Bautista church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Mary Latterman; brothers, Julius Lerma, Rudy Latterman and David Latterman; sisters, Janey Cervantez, Margaret Latterman and Josephine Latterman and brother-in-law, Lawrence Perry.
Manuel leaves behind sisters, Virginia Perry of Bryan and Mary Black of California; brothers, Abraham Lerma of Mission and Daniel Latterman of Bryan; close nephew, Larry Latterman and wife, Kim of College Station and many more nieces, nephews and extended family.
