Wanda Anita Manley Steffy, 90, of College Station, formerly of Navasota, died Saturday afternoon, March 2, 2013, at the home of her daughter, Paula Moore. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Lindley-Robertson-Holt Funeral Home. Private graveside services will be Wednesday, March 6, 2013 in Oakland Cemetery with Rev. C. McAllister "Mac" Vaughn, pastor of First United Methodist Church officiating.
Wanda was born March 24, 1922 in Houston, Texas to David and Ruby Harrison Manley. She graduated from Milby High School and St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing. Wanda married Kenneth H. Steffy December 3, 1943, in Houston.
She was a nurse for Dr. Mike Mason and later for Dr. Luke Scamardo, II at the Navasota Medical Center and retired in 1984. She did take a leave from nursing during the school days of her two daughters. After her retirement Wanda enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, reading and enjoyed cooking and working in her garden. She was also an excellent seamstress as well as member of First United Methodist Church of Navasota.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth; a brother, Mansel Manley; and son-in-law, Michael Strube.
Survivors include her daughters, Deborah Strube of Spring, and Paula Moore and husband Tom of College Station; grandchildren, Ross Strube and wife Shae of Muskogee, Okla., Craig Strube of Houston, Bryan Kenjura and wife Nicole of Pearland and Lindsay Moore of College Station; great-grandchildren, Kadence and KarLee Strube and Sophie and Hayden Kenjura.
