October 1, 1943 - March 5, 2013

Elizabeth Frances "Betty" Dusek passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9, at First United Methodist Church in Caldwell.

Betty was born October 1, 1943 in Waynesville, N.C. to Frances and Harry Burnette. Betty spent her early years in North Carolina and surrounding states then moved to Texas, where she graduated from Pasadena High School in Pasadena, Texas. On July 18, 1964 she married her love and friend, Ron Dusek. After marrying, Betty and Ron moved to Caldwell where they raised their two sons, James and John, and where she assisted Ron as the office manager for his dental practice, Ronald J. Dusek, D.D.S.

Betty was active in both the Brethren and Methodist churches, was a member of the Emmaus community, served as a Cub Scout den mother, volunteered with children and youth ministries, and served on the board of directors for the Burleson County Hospital District where she fought tirelessly to retain healthcare services in Caldwell.

Betty had an absolute, unwavering faith in God even in her final days. She rejoiced in God's glory in her gardening, birds and butterflies, and served Him by caring for people and animals in need. Her other passion was her only grandchild, Annabeth and spending as much time as she could with her.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Lura Jane Burns; and her son, John.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 49 years, Ron; her son, James his wife Carmen; and granddaughter, Annabeth Dusek of San Angelo; also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church of Caldwell.
