Jimmie G. Stone Jr., age 58, of 825 S 17th St. Quincy, IL died March 4, 2013. A memorial service took place Thursday, March 7, in Quincy, Illinois.




Jimmie was born October 22, 1954 in Bryan, Texas, the son of Jimmie G. Stone Sr. and Betty Lee Kraatz. Jimmie grew up in Bryan, Texas, where he attended Bryan High School. He married the love of his life, Betty Freeman, on July 30, 1983 in College Station, Texas. In 1990, his work brought him and his family to Quincy. Jimmie worked at the Anderson News Co. until his retirement.




In his spare time, Jimmie enjoyed golfing, fishing and bowling. Jimmie was an accomplished golfer. He especially enjoyed spending time with and cooking for his family. Jimmie was an avid sports fan, his favorite teams being the Dallas Cowboys, the Fightin' Texas Aggies, and the Houston Astros. Jimmie also volunteered his time and his talent to the American Heart Association . His wife Betty, children, grandchildren and family were the loves of his life. He and his family were members of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Bryan, Texas.




Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Kenneth Stone.




In addition to his wife, survivors include his two sons, Brian A. & Megan Stone and Brandon S. Stone, all of Quincy; a daughter, Leslie C. & Doug Coleman of Quincy; a granddaughter, Sophia Stone; two step-grandsons, Nicholas and Alexander Coleman; a brother, Morris & Sharon Stone of Granbury; sister, Judy Stone & David Leeper of Bryan; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and many special friends from Anita and Rosedale Streets in Bryan.




Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association
