Harry Goodman Sr., 85, joined his Lord Friday, March 1, 2013. Services to celebrate his home going are set for 2 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at Morning Star Baptist Church in Bryan, Elder Herschel Goodman, Pastor.




Harry Goodman Sr., was born October 12, 1927 in Little Rock, Ark., to Curley and Elizabeth Goodman. He attended and graduated from Dunbar High School located in Little Rock. Harry served overseas in the U.S. Army for more than 25 years and retired in Oakland, Calif. He was a member of Veteran of Foreign Wars. Harry gave his life to Christ and was baptized at Collins Street Baptist Church in Little Rock, Ark.




After moving to California, he united with the Cosmopolitan Baptist Church in Oakland, where he served as a deacon. He met and married Lover White in 1982 in Oakland. In 1984 they moved to Bryan, where he became a member of St. Mark Baptist Church under the leadership of his brother, Elder Herschel Goodman.




Harry owned and operated Minglewood Security Inc., the first black owned security company in the B/CS area for more than 20years.




Harry enjoyed helping and giving to people. He also enjoyed his work, talking about his military service, playing golf, reading, and watching westerns. Harry devoted his life to his family and he will be missed deeply.




His parents preceded him in death; and six brothers, Clarence, Curley Jr., Carl, Glenn, Clinton, and Tommy.




He leaves to mourn his death and cherish his memories his daughter, Juandrice Goodman; and his son, Harry Goodman Jr. & Elizabeth; two stepchildren, LaTosha Bowles & David and Joshua Brown; two grandchildren, Aden Goodman and Luke Bowles; a brother, Elder Herschel Goodman & Othella; and a sister, Peggy Lastie; and hosts of nieces and nephews to mourn.
