Funeral services for Lottie Sue (Schluens) Lewis, 84, of Somerville, are set for 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2013 from Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville with Rev. Corby Brizendine officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery in Somerville. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with the family present and from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Friday at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville. Mrs. Lewis died Tuesday evening at the College Station Medical Center.




Lottie was born November 1, 1928 in Somerville, the daughter of John Leroy and Doris Allen (Calhoun) Schluens. She attended school in Somerville and graduated as Salutatorian from Somerville High School. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cleaning and cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved watching game shows, especially Wheel of Fortune. Family members said that her memory was better than that of her children and she enjoyed riding out in the pasture and looking over her cows.




She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold Charles Lewis, Sr., a son, John Lewis and a brother, Pete Schluens.




Survivors include her children and their spouses, Virginia Ann and Wally Lee of Apple Valley, Minnesota; Carol Sue and Sammy Brinkman of Lyons, Harold (Bubba) Jr., and Kim Lewis of Somerville, daughter-in-law, Barbie Lewis of Somerville; Glenn and Barbara Lewis of College Station, Brenda and Dale Schoenberg of Somerville, Teresa and Guy Hargrove of Somerville; her 31 grandchildren, and l9 great-grandchildren along with her sisters, Kathryn Like of Somerville and Linda and Jimmy Oppermann of Lyons and her brother and sister-in-law, Claude and Mary Schluens of Bellville along with numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.




Family members have requested that memorials be made to Oaklawn Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 1296, Somerville, Texas 77879 or First Baptist Church of Somerville in memory of Lottie Sue Lewis.
