Jamie McGrath, 88, formerly of Beaumont, Texas, passed away March 16, 2013 at St. Joseph Manor in Bryan, Texas. Visitation for Jamie is scheduled for Friday, March 22, 2013 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station. Graveside Services will follow at 2:00 P.M. at College Station City Cemetery with Reverend Tommy Myrick of Christ United Methodist Church officiating.




Mrs. McGrath was born December 20, 1924 to Ruby Harrison and Thomas P. Hunter in Longview, Texas. She graduated from Longview High School and grew up in East Texas, moving to Beaumont, Texas in 1950. On December 22, 1952, she met a young Attorney by the name of James McGrath, who served as the District Attorney for Jefferson County from 1978 to 1986, and they were married on July 11, 1953. Jamie and her husband moved to College Station in 1998 to be closer to their daughter and son-in-law. She was a devoted wife and mother and was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Beaumont.




She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 47 years, James Samuel McGrath on July 23, 2000, and one sister, Jo Ann Hunter Swain.




She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and James Massey of College Station, Texas; and two grandchildren, Katy Massey and Michael Massey of College Station.




Memorials may be made to the South Brazos County Fire Dept, PO Box 501, Millican, TX 77866 or to the Aggieland Animal Shelter, 5359 Leonard Road, Bryan, TX 77807.
