Mary Alice Thacker McClain of Cleveland, Texas, passed quietly from this life on March 18, 2013 with family members by her side. Mrs. McClain was born on August 17, 1926 in Ironton, Ohio, to John Edward Thacker and Mary Alice Hale Thacker. She is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Richard Orin McClain; two sons, Donald Allen McClain and Daniel Arthur McClain; and seven siblings. She was an excellent homemaker, gardener, seamstress and a very loving and caring Mother. She was a complete miracle worker, always making a home for her family even though her husband's work took them to many, many places and often without much notice. Mrs. McClain was a Baptist and enjoyed attending church services when her health allowed.




Family survivors include her children, Richard McClain, Constance and David Toon, Catharine Tachoir, Debra and Ed Everett; grandchildren, Rocky McClain, Donald McClain, Jeremiah Toon, Jason McClain, Lorne and Brandi Everett, Morgan and Megan Everett, Jennifer and Eric Meuth, Danita and Harley Bench, Orin and Kara McClain, and Elizabeth and John Duffy; as well as numerous great grandchildren, nieces and cousins.




A time to visit with family is scheduled from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 22, at Hillier Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Brother Dalton Currie of First Baptist Church in Coldspring will officiate and interment will follow at Smetana Cemetery.
