Ova Lee Harris, 89, of Bryan, entered into rest on March 18, 2013 at the Hospice Brazos Valley Inpatient Facility in Bryan. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station. The funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 P.M., Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Calvary Baptist Church in Bryan. Interment will follow at Willowhole Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Wayne Harris, Mark Harris, Les Harris, Billy Harris and Gregory Harris.




Ova Lee was born July 9, 1923 in Madison County, Texas, the daughter of John Edwin and Edna Elizabeth (Burney) Waller. Growing up in Madison County, she was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and attended school in Willowhole and Madisonville.




She was married to Ben F. Casey. Ova Lee and Ben had a daughter, Janet Casey. In 1946 she married Walter H. Harris and took his three boys and a daughter of his. In 1957 she adopted Walter's first grandchild.




Ova Lee moved to Bryan in 1961 and started working at City National Bank in 1962. She retired in March of 1986 as the supervisor of tellers.




She was a loving mother and great grandmother. She was very proud of all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, encouraging and supportive of them.




She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Walter H. Harris; brothers, James Robert Waller, Morris Elvin Waller, Bruce Wallace Waller, Ollen Earl Waller, Rolan Merle Waller; sisters, Verty Marie Bridges, Leona Waller Geyer; a daughter, Joyce Vaughn; and a son, Pete Harris.




Survivors include her daughter, Janet Casey; three sons, Travis Harris, Ray Harris, Mike Harris; a sister, Dorothy Imogene Davis; 15 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.




The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and cards. Calvary Baptist Church for their generosity and support and Hospice Brazos Valley for the great care they provided.
