Glenn Arlyn Brown of Rosenberg, Texas was born on July 12, 1939 in Lufkin, Texas and died March 23, 2013, after a brief battle with lung cancer. Visitation will be at Cashner Funeral Home on Thursday March 28, 2013 from 5-8 pm. Funeral Services will be at Cashner Funeral Home, Conroe, TX on Friday, March 29 , 2013 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in the Garden Park Cemetery.
Glenn grew up in Conroe, Texas and graduated from Conroe High School in 1957. He married Evon Cook on June 6, 1959. He was drafted in 1963 and served as a military policeman in the U.S. Army. He worked in the oil industry starting as a roustabout and eventually working in oil and gas plants for Champlin Petroleum which later became Union Pacific Resources. After he retired from Union Pacific Resources he worked for Mc Gowan Working Partners Inc. maintaining wells.
Glenn was known for his mechanical skills and being able to fix just about anything. He could often be found helping friends, neighbors and the neighborhood children with their bicycles. He and his wife later lived in both Bryan, TX and Rosenberg, TX . He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
After retirement Glenn took over the cooking for his wife and became known as an excellent baker. He was known to take pies and cakes to his neighbors, barber and friends. He was a loving brother, husband, father and friend.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years Evon Cook Brown on February 16, 2013; mother Viola Gertrude Gunter and father George Willie Brown; sisters, Valrie Cansler and Vernell Graf; brothers Elton Linwood Brown, W.A. Brown and James Herbert Brown.
He is survived by his daughter Glynis Yvonne Fletcher and husband Jeffery of Tomball; sisters Vivian Kinerd of Conroe, Linda Phillips and husband Paul of Fair Oaks Ranch, Patsy Ann Brown of Boerne and brother Dixon E. Brown of Conroe. Numerous other family and friends also survive.
Special thanks go to Heartland Health Care Center- Willowbrook staff and Texas Home Health Hospice for their loving care of both of my parents during their final days.
