Bobbie I. Cole, 90, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at his home in Bedias Texas, after an extended illness.




Bobbie was born in Diagonal, Ringgold Township, Iowa, on July 10, 1922, to Robert Lawrence and ella Mae Rogers Cole. He was the third of five children. Due to childhood illness, he was only able to finish the 8th grade but was extremely proud of that accomplishment. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1940 and served for six years. During his time, he served as a Ship's Cook 1st Class E-5 in World War II in the pacific Theatre. He was a dairy man for over 30 years before he retired from the business and then was a cattle rancher for another 30 years. He was a Christian who loved to tell others about Christ. He lived his life as an example of how a Christian should live.




In 1943, he married Eda Margaret Lee in Corpus Christi, Texas. He met her when the Navy stationed him in Corpus and they were married for almost 5 years when she passed away in 2008. During their marriage, they were blessed with four sons.




He was preced in death by: his parents; his wife;, sons, John Edward Cole and Thomas Lee Cole; daughter-in-law, Geneva Rae Newcomb Cole; brother, John Samuel Cole; sisters, Frances Simonson, Mabel Smith, and Lois Hoffman all of Illinois; brothers-in-law, William Lee and James Clyde Lee of Corpus Christi, Texas area; sister-in-law, Mary Jo Lee of Arizona; seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, and many loving friends.




A graveside service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2013, at Bedias Baptist Cemetery in Bedias, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family at Bobbie's request asks for donations to the Church of Singleton, or charity of your choice .
