Pauline "Twig" Elizabeth Branch Denton, 91, is now absent from the body and face to face with her Lord Monday, April 1, 2013, in her home in Bryan, Texas. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends. She is in a place of no more sorrow, no more tears, no more pain, no more death; the old things have passed away.
Twig was born in Okema, Okla., on September 24, 1921, and soon after moved with her family to Santa Rosa, Texas, where she graduated from high school in the class of 1939. She was graduated from Texas A & M University, Kingsville, Texas with a degree in education in 1942.
Twig lived in Driscoll, Texas with her husband Claude Denton for 61 years before moving to Bryan, Texas seven years ago. Twig taught school in Driscoll for 25 years. She was active in the community, the Driscoll Baptist Church, Women's Christian Service Club, and was an avid gardener.
Twig is survived by her husband of 70 years, Claude Denton; three children, Carolyn Denton of Katy, Texas; Cheryl Duke Schroeder and her husband, Otto, of Calliham, Texas; and Steve Denton of Bryan, Texas; four grandchildren; Dee Ann Miller Suppes and her husband John of Palo Alto, Calif.; Craig Miller and his wife Annie of Austin, Texas; Lori Duke Reilly and her husband Don; and Lisa Duke Wix of Katy, Texas; six great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services for Twig will be held at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station, Texas on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 2 p.m.
Twig always wanted and had flowers while she was living. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite church or charity in her memory.
