January 21, 1944 - April 4, 2013

Homer L. Roth, 69, beloved husband, father, "PawPaw", and brother, fell asleep in Jesus and entered eternal glory with God the Holy Trinity in heaven on April 4, 2013. He was born on January 21, 1944 to Raymond and Irene (nee Wunderlich) Roth on the family farm in Spring, Texas and was reborn into God's Kingdom through Holy Baptism on February 20, 1944 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Klein. He attended the Trinity Lutheran parish school through eighth grade and confirmed his Christian faith at Trinity on March 30, 1958. His confirmation verse was Psalm 26:8: "Lord, I have loved the habitation of Thy house, and the place where Thine honor dwelleth."

Homer was a graduate of Klein High School and Sam Houston State University. From childhood on he farmed with his father in Spring. On April 21, 1973, he was joined in Holy Matrimony to Ruth Ann Brink, with his father-in-law, Rev. Kurt Brink, officiating. In 1974 Homer and Annie moved to their ranch in the Normangee area, where they raised their family and enjoyed 39 years of marriage.

Homer was a faithful member, along with Annie, of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in North Zulch, where he was active in service and had many dear friends. He was a rancher by trade. He enjoyed his work, reading, and doing crossword puzzles, but above all else, spending time with his family.

Homer was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Annie; son, Rev. Carl Roth and wife Heidi of Elgin, Texas; daughter, Clare Staub and husband Michael of Houston; daughter, Kathryn Roth of Houston; grandchildren, Grace Ann, Emma, Samuel, and Abigail Roth of Elgin, Texas, and baby Elizabeth Staub of Houston; brothers, Edward Roth of Spring, Daniel Roth and wife Becky of Sugar Land, and Randy Roth and wife Carol of Spring; aunts, Ruby Melton, Hilda Doerre, and Viola Hildebrandt; uncle F. James Wunderlich and wife Bertie; a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews; and many friends.

Homer's visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 7 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 5084 Church Lane, North Zulch, Texas 77872. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church, with Rev. Randall Smith officiating. Graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial gifts in honor of Homer be directed to Bethlehem Lutheran in North Zulch.

Though we mourn because of Homer's death, we take comfort from the truth that he was saved for everlasting resurrected life by God's grace, through the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory forever!
