James Arthur Davis, 81, of Hearne, passed away March 26, 2013. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 6, at Old Elam Missionary Baptist Church in Hearne.

Services are set for 11 a.m. following visitation with the Rev. James Crawford officiating. Interment will be in Greater Riverside Cemetery under the care of Glenn Mack Funeral Home in Hearne

James owned his own business for more than 50 years. He graduated from Blackshear High School then attended mechanic school. James was a member of Progressive Baptist Church for over 60 years. He was a Deacon, a choir member, Sunday school teacher and Superintendent of Sunday School for over 40 years.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Cary Bailey Davis; sons and daughters-in-law, James A. Davis Jr. & Beverly, Edwin Davis & Susan Marie, Kevin Davis & Monica, Lester Davis & Lochelle, Carlos Davis & Alice, William Davis & Lillian, Clifton Davis & Sonia, Paschal Davis & Samantha, John Davis & Eleanor, Joshua Davis & Dameshia, Christopher Davis & Leslie, Victor Anderson & Felisha, Melvin Williams & Elnor, Sheldon Davis, Joseph Bailey; daughters & sons-in-law, Beverly Taylor & John, Marilyn McDaniel, Siscley Petty & Kenneth, Sefonia Bailey, Cinesulen Thomas & Randolph, Patricia Moore Smith & Parker, Lasherica Bailey; daughters-in-law, Rosie Davis and Val Davis; sisters, Mable O'Neal & Dian Edison; brothers, Raymond Davis and Larry Henderson; 73 grandchildren and 57 great-grandchildren.
