Harvey Owen Wehmeyer, 85, of Anderson, died Monday morning, April 22, 2013 at the Hospice Brazos Valley Inpatient Facility in Bryan with his loving family close by.
Calling hours will be held from 12:00 to 6:00 pm Wednesday at Lindley-Robertson-Holt Funeral Home of Navasota with a gathering of family and friends beginning at 6:00 and continuing until 8:00 pm. A celebration of Harvey's life will take place 10:30 am Thursday at Lindley-Robertson-Holt Funeral Home. Interment will follow in St. Stanislaus Church Cemetery in Anderson.
Pallbearers will be Scott Ashorn, Bradley Wehmeyer, Kevin Stephens, Larry Sechelski, Donny Yargo, Raymond Uilkie and Ray Wehmeyer. Honorary pallbearers will be Skylar Zach, Kason Yargo, Kagan Stephens, Weston Ashorn, Dalton Sechelski, Michael Uilkie, Dennis Wehmeyer, James Busa, Arch Seigle, Rickey Wehmeyer, Roger Uilkie, Don Rhoads and James Rhoads.
Harvey was born in Grimes County December 16, 1927 to Fritz and Hannah Boehm Wehmeyer. He served his country for two years in the U.S. Navy and on January 12, 1952 he married Margaret Dorothy Uilkie. They settled in Houston where Harvey was a transport driver for Exxon. They returned to Grimes County in 1971 living in Navasota and in 1982 moved to Anderson. Harvey was a life time member of the Texas Range Riders, the Grimes County Poor Boys and the Grimes County Fair Association. He loved riding horses and working his ranch.
Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Margaret, brothers, Thurman, Arthur and Fred Wehmeyer, a sister, Dorothy Hilley, son-in-law, Roy Lee Kolbasinski and great grandchildren, Mylie Ashorn, Lainee Stephens and Avery Ashorn.
Survivors include four children, Dennis Wehmeyer and wife Joanie, Carolyn Ashorn and husband Marshall, Dianne Kolbasinski and Maxine Wehmeyer, all of Anderson; a sister, Juanita Rhoads and husband J.D. of Tomball; brother-in-law, Raymond Uilkie and wife Polly of Navasota; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Busa of Houston and Mary Ann Busa of Anderson; 6 grandchildren, Kari Lynn Eisenman, Marti Stephens and husband Kevin, Kaci Yargo and husband Donny, Crystal Sechelski and husband Larry, Scott Ashorn and wife Rae, Bradley Wehmeyer and wife Shannon, and 10 great grandchildren, Skylar Zach and Weston Ashorn, Kason and Brylee Yargo, Kagan and Kynlee Stephens, Kelsie and Hallie Eisenman, and Ayla and Dalton Sechelski along with numerous other relatives and a great number of friends.
In lieu of usual remembrances, the family has requested memorials to Hospice Brazos Valley, 502 W. 28th Street, Bryan, Texas 77802-2426.
