Donald E. Williams Jr., born August 5, 1934 in San Antonio, Texas passed away May 13, 2013 in College Station, Texas. Religious service and viewing is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 1001 Woodcreek Drive, College Station, Texas 77845. A graveside service is scheduled for 1:45 p.m., Monday, May 20, 2013 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with full Military Honors and Masonic Rites.
Don was raised in San Antonio; graduated Class of '52 from Jefferson High School and later went on to Texas A&M and graduated Class of '56, and received MSBA at Boston University.
He was commissioned as a 1st Lieutenant on August 1, 1956 and served on active duty service for 20 years as an Intelligence Officer. Germany, Thailand, Vietnam and Middle East are only a few of the many places he served. His love for adventure and language skills gave him the opportunity to work with foreign nationals who willingly supported the United States.
After Army retirement, he worked for The Prudential Insurance Company as an Agent and Sales Manager in South Texas from 1977 until retiring again in 1993.
In 1996, he qualified for his U.S. Coast Guard Master's Papers for 100-ton boats and served as 1st Captain for 4 years out of Port Aransas. He then retired for his final time to have fun. He was a Mason for 43 years; a member of Perfect Union Lodge #10, Berlin Lodge #46 and the San Antonio Scottish Rite Bodies.
Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his parents, Donald E. Williams and Marcella S. Williams.
He is survived by his wife, Esther S. "Bunny" Williams; son Donald E. Williams III and wife Meredith; daughter Donna Miller and husband Reggie; grandsons Donald E. Williams IV and his wife Nana, Ashton and Brady Williams; granddaughters Brittney M. Williams, Megan, Kim and Taren Miller; great-grandsons Donald E. Williams V and Zaden Miller.
