Katie "Faye" (Means) Hurley Britton of Bryan passed away peacefully on May 17, 2013 at the age of 100. A time to visit with family will be on Tuesday, May 20, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan. Graveside services will be held at Bryan City Cemetery on Wednesday, May 21, 2013 at 10:00 a.m.
Faye was born in Mulhall, Oklahoma on April 27, 1913 to Thomas and Katie Means. She moved to Bryan in 1949 and started working for Norton Newman Printing Company, now known as Newman Printing Company, until she retired in 1966.
She attended Emmanuel Baptist Church and taught Sunday school for many years. In 1965, Faye married Alfred Britton and together they continued Christian work for twelve wonderful years until Alfred's death in 1977. Faye then moved to Northview Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years.
Faye was preceded in death by her first husband, Arthur W. Hurley Jr. and her second husband, Alfred Britton; and a son, James W. Hurley.
She is survived by one son, Lewis Hurley of Livingston; four daughters, Thelma Faye Zak of New Hampshire, Katheryn Jean Saulsbury of Bryan, Regina Holly of Florida, Janey Hunt of Tennessee; and three stepchildren, Laura Lind, Ray Britton and Marguerite Patterson; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
