Funeral Home: Heartfield-Ritter Funeral Home
April 14, 1994 - May 25, 2013
Makala passed away peacefully in her sleep, at home, cradled in her
mother's arms, suddenly from complications
associated with renal disease.
Visitation will be Friday, May 31, 2013 from 5-7 p.m.
with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Heartfield-Ritter Funeral Home,
110 Second Street, Hearne, Texas. A funeral Mass will be held at St.
Mary's Catholic Church in Hearne, Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 10 a.m.
There were no ABC's or 123's, ballet slippers, soccer balls, or Sr. Prom. She won't attend Harvard, get married, or have children of her own. She won't even be a Playboy centerfold-if that was something that she had chose.
What she did was prove to many that she has will spunk, charm and fight. Fight she did, and as her mom, I could not be more proud, I always believed. I didn't dwell on what she could not do, but focused on what she could.
Although hard and very challenging at times,
the last 19 years have been the most rewarding of my life. And if God would grant me daughter, a chance to change you as I pleased,
you'd remain what you've become, same hair, same eyes, personality and size. There's not one trait that I would change, for daughter.
God's best need not to be changed. To have a dream and see it come true, Is to have a daughter, just like you.
For those who know Makala will remember her beautiful hair, small feet, awesome smile, The way she would cut her eyes to let you know that she had a sassy side, and of course that tiny
nose. For those who did not know Makala or chose not to be a part of her life truly missed out. Missed out on knowing an amazing child, great young woman and truly a miracle. You have your wings now sweet angel- so fly. Sleep tight sunshine; don't let the bedbugs bite my princess, And mom will see you soon.
Makala loved to ride horses, Wheel of Fortune, Price is Right, Survivor,
Walker Texas Ranger, The Young & the Restless, Tom & Jerry, Andy Griffith, her beloved black lab, Tulla and of course she loved to eat.
Makala is preceded in death by
Great grandparents; Mr. & Mrs. Mathis Marion (Miles) (Louise Vivano) Ottea, Sr. Mr. & Mrs. Alsa Taylor (Callie Herod) Jackson,
and grandfather Mr. Mathis Marion (Matt) Ottea, Jr.
She is survived by her mother, Monica M Ottea,
Grandmother, uncle, two aunts and two cousins.
As Makala's mom I would like to express special thanks and appreciation to: Dr. Barry Paull, Dr. Andrew DeJong, Dr. Frederick Tan, and to Daniel T Ayers, Jr. –Friend, and dad he didn't have to be.
