Maurice Green, Sr., 85, of Bryan passed away Thursday, June 13, 2013 at St. Joseph Regional Health Center. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, at Jones-Washington Mortuary.




Services are set for 11 a.m. Thursday, June 20, at Galilee Baptist Church with the Reverend Anthony Ross officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.




Maurice Green was born on January 19, 1928 in Burleson County to Roberta Blake Thomas and Robert Green. He graduated from Burleson County Schools District. Maurice was a member of Galilee Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of the Trustee Board, Secretary of Brotherhood and President of the Sanctuary Choir. He was a member of the Grand Lodge where he served as Potentate of Mohawk 62 Temple in Bryan, District manager of Grand Lodge three years, and Worshipful Master of the local Lodge for twelve years.




He enjoyed his family, church and friends, and participating in Crime Stoppers, as well as being active in the community. He was also was a member of Brazos County Crime Commission, Crime Stoppers, Citizens Sheriffs Alumni Association, Citizens Police Alumni Association, St. Joseph Hospital & Health Center Medallion.




He was preceded in death by his parents and sons, Bernest Evans, Wesley Green, Sr.; siblings, Melvin J. Allen, Thomas Traylor, Lonnie Thomas and Eunell Green.




Survivors include his wife, Wanda Green; sons, Superintendent Maurice Green, Jr. and Barbara, Tommy Green and Renee; daughters, Authuryne Joiner and Johnny, of West Columbus, Texas, Rose Jones and Johnny, and Marietta O'Neil Stark of Bryan, Lynda J. Dearman of Dallas, and Valesta Collins of Long Beach, Calif.; sisters, Mary Fletcher of Long Beach, Calif., Thelma Manor of Katy, Mickey Murray of Jacksonville, Fla., a
