John Arthur Wooten, 77, of College Station, passed away Monday morning June 24, 2013 at the Hospice Brazos Valley Inpatient Facility in Bryan.

Graveside services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday June 29 at Martin's Prairie Cemetery in Grimes County with Rev. Don Hancock officiating.

John was born in Hutchinson, Kansas. He joined the U.S. Navy then transferred to the United States Army serving in the Vietnam War. He retired after 23 years of service to his country. He was a life member of the American Legion Post No. 0068 in Hutchinson, Kan., and was a member of Hoogles Creek Masonic Lodge No. 279 in Wheatland, Mo.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Davis Wooten of College Station; his mother, Virginia Wooten of Wheatland, Mo.; one brother, Charles Wooten of Hutchinson, Kan.; one sister, Lori Martin of Independence, Mo.; sisters-in-law, Mary Timm and Betty Nall, both of Bryan; and several nieces and nephews.
