Funeral services for Ollie Sue Stark, 87, a longtime resident of Hearne were held Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at Memorial Funeral Home in Hearne. Burial was in Norwood Cemetery. Mrs. Stark died on Sunday, June 23, 2013 at Burleson St. Joseph Manor in Caldwell where she had been a resident for the last 2 years.
Sue was born on June 7, 1926 in Easterly to Benjamin Merryman and Ollie Wells Coalson Merryman. She attended school in Franklin, Texas and graduated from Franklin High School in 1943 and continued her education at Durham Business School in Houston. Sue worked as a Nanny while attending school in Houston. She married Damon Stark in Franklin on November 20, 1945 and they were married for 54 years before his passing in 1999. Sue worked for the Texas Department of Human Services for over 35 years. She loved gardening, visiting with friends and having coffee at the Dairy Queen, and attending church services at the Hearne Church of Christ where she was a faithful member for over 50 years.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Damon; and her daughters, Mildred Stark Withers and Mary Stark Deal.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Margaret Sue Stark Fancher and her husband, Pat, of Marshall; her son, Damon Dudley Stark and his wife, Cathy, of College Station; her grandchildren, David Michael Deal and his wife, Maggie, of Houston, Jennifer Sue Deal of Abilene, Christopher Patrick Fancher of Marshall, Mellissa Sue Stark Bennett and her husband, Rob, of Manassas, Virginia, Ashley Michelle Stark Lewis and her husband, Don, of College Station, and Morgan Rene' Stark of College Station; her great-grandchildren, Mollie Antonia Deal of Houston, Layton Stark Fancher of White Oak, Brooke Elizabeth, Bethany Diane and Bo William Bennett all of Manassas, Virginia, Shaley Peyton, Caleb, Talan Cole and Daisy Rene' Lewis, all of College Station; and her sons-in-law, John Withers of Bryan and Richard Deal of Abilene.
