Richard Claibourne (Clay) Dozier, 61, died Sunday, June 30, 2013 at St. Joseph Hospital. Services will be held at St. Thomas Episcopal Chapel in College Station at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10.
Born in Bryan, Clay was the son of Phyllis and James Hall Dozier. A graduate of A&M Consolidated High School, he attended Texas A&M University on a Houston Golf Association scholarship and played on the Texas A&M Golf Team. He worked as golf pro at Pinewood Country Club in Munds Park Arizona. One of the highlights of his tenure there was when he and his father won the Pro-Am Championship in 1979.
He was predeceased by his father and his brother, Jan Hall Dozier. He is survived by his mother, Phyllis (Downward) Dozier; sister, Kelly Jane Dozier of Spring, sister-in-law Georgia Dozier and significant family friend Patricia Garrison of Spring.
Clay was a naturalist, known for his love of observing animals in their natural setting from the porch of his log cabin. He will be remembered for his knowledge of bird identification by sight, sound and conversation.
