Daniel Anthony "Sonny" Busa, 68, of North Zulch, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2013 in Bryan, Texas.
Funeral services are set for 10 a.m., Saturday, July 6, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Madisonville. Father Edward C. Kucera Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow in Willowhole Cemetery in North Zulch. Madisonville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Busa was born in Plantersville, Texas January 28, 1945. His parents were Lee Busa and Lena Lebeck Busa. He lived in Madison County for 34 years and worked 27 years for GTE and later Verizon Wireless when they bought out GTE. Mr. Busa was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church of Madisonville.
He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the American Legion in Madisonville and the VFW Post in Navasota. Mr. Busa enjoyed fishing and gardening. He loved his Bar-B-Que team the "Pot Lickers". He loved his children, his grandsons and his little dog, "Lady Girl". Mr. Busa called all of his grandsons, "Knot" and his grandsons called him "Paw Paw Dan".
Mr. Busa was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Alma Kuta and Louise Roese.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Busa of North Zulch; son, Daniel "D.J." Busa and wife, Hillary of Lovelady; daughters, Lea Ann Andrus and husband, Alan of Conroe, Michelle "Missy" Goff and husband, Tim of Caldwell; sisters, Verna Kaminski and Ann Wilson, both of Plantersville and five grandsons, Dustin Andrus, Payne Andrus, Kaleb Andrus, Luke McClosky and Jack McClosky. Also included are numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Alan Andrus, Dustin Andrus, D.J. Busa, Kaleb Andrus, Tim Goff, Luke McClosky, Jack McClosky, Evan Marshburn, Eric Kurten and Payne Andrus will be an honorary pallbearer.
